Questions and answers

Why don't I see an app in Spatial Dock?

Spatial Dock only shows apps that have been launched at least once while it is running, which keeps apps you never use out of the way.

  • Launch or relaunch the app so Spatial Dock can detect it
  • Check the ignored apps list under Settings → Apps
  • If you previously removed the app from the dock, launch it again
What happens to apps without a direct shortcut?

They stay available in the secondary dock, so you can still reach them with indirect shortcuts, arrow keys, Tab navigation, or the mouse.

What if the secondary dock gets crowded?
  • Move your most-used apps to the primary dock
  • Scroll through the secondary dock
  • Show only running apps: the shortcut is . by default, set under Settings → Dock Controls
  • Change the number of secondary dock rows under Settings → Layout
  • Group related apps into categories
Why does an uninstalled app still appear?

Spatial Dock keeps app positions so your layout stays stable, so a removed app can keep its place. To remove it, drag its icon in the overlay onto the Drop here to remove area that appears while you drag.

Can I use a different keyboard layout or input source?

Yes. Spatial Dock supports custom keyboard layouts and multiple input sources, including Colemak, Dvorak, split keyboards, Korean, Cyrillic, and more.

Can Spatial Dock open websites, files, or folders?

Yes. App Links let you add websites, files, folders, and custom URL schemes to the docks, each with its own position and key. A web app created in Safari with File → Add to Dock appears like a regular application.

What do the app-switching numbers and arrows mean?

When you cycle with Option+Tab, or a custom shortcut set to Most Recently Used, numbers show a fixed order for that session: 0 is the app you started from and 1 is the first Tab destination. Arrows point to the next and previous apps. Turn them off under Settings → Labels & Indicators → Show app-switching hints.

What if my activation key conflicts with a macOS shortcut?
  • Choose a different modifier or trigger key under Settings → Activation
  • Avoid letter shortcuts that overlap with system shortcuts you use often
  • Check System Settings → Keyboard → Keyboard Shortcuts for conflicts
Can I use Caps Lock as the activation key?

Yes, with a remapping tool that turns Caps Lock into a modifier key, such as Hyperkey or Karabiner-Elements.

How do I move my setup to another Mac?

Use Settings → Backup & Reset to export your settings and docked apps to a file, optionally with custom or original app icons, then import that file on the other Mac.
